Season 8[]
After Henry asked Lucas to come back to work at the oil company, Lucas reached out to Christopher, asking him to come to Hope Valley to keep an eye on Henry. Christopher borrowed a car that had been stolen by a friend, and left it outside of Hope Valley, where it was later recovered and investigated by Nathan and Bill. Christopher and his father had a bit of a rough re-introduction, but it was clear that Henry wanted to patch things up between them. After Henry's health scare, it became evident that Christopher did still love his father, even if they didn't always get along.
Christopher, came to Hope Valley un-expectantly. He is Henry's son. Their greeting was tense. Henry told Christopher to leave town. Christopher does not leave town and instead goes to see him at the oil company. Christopher makes a comment about the ironic fact that the oil company is called Gowen's when Henry lost the business that he loved. Henry is upset clearly and says he does not have the time to make amends for all his mistakes but offers Christopher his hand. Christopher refuses to shake it and leaves instead. Finally Henry sees Christopher is still in town. He says that he'd like to stay if that's ok with Henry and they shake hands. Henry then introduces Christopher to Elizabeth as 'his son.' [1] Henry and Christopher still don't always see eye to eye. Henry scolds Christopher for being late for breakfast. [2] When Henry passes out, Christopher fearful hears from Carson and Faith about Henry's high blood pressure. He gets upset threatening to blame them if anything happens to his dad. [3]
At the oil ring, Christopher and Henry both step in to help. Henry explains to his son who thought he spent all day in an office, that the men must know that you understand the job so they won't take advantage of you. He offers Christopher to go back home but Christopher wants to stay with Henry and learn. Then Lucas lets Christopher know while there might be money in oil, in this rig there isn't right now but Lucas hopes Henry can change that. Christopher is disappointed to hear there isn't money in this rig. [4]
Lee then asks Lucas to keep an eye out for his pocket watch that went missing a week ago. Lucas goes and visits Christopher asking if he has seen it. Christopher denies he has and Lucas threatens to send him out on the next stage coach if he catches him pickpocketing in town. [5]
When Christopher arrived in Hope Valley, he soon became acquainted with Rachel Thom, and the two developed a romantic interest in each other. Rachel witnessed Christopher pickpocketing her uncle Lee's watch, but didn't tell anyone about what she'd seen. She sees him in the shop knowing he's up to no good. [1] Christopher ditches his stolen car and walks into town. Christopher wants Rachel to show him around town. When she questions about the car, he admits it's not his. [4]
Christopher goes to see Rachel offering her flowers that he found tossed down outside (they were Jesse's for Clara). He announces that he is staying in town to work with his father. He hopes to see more of her. He is distracted by the fact Nathan has found the stolen car and is pushing it into town. [4] Christopher stops by the shop, making plans to go see the town with Rachel but Rosemary offers a different time so Lee can take them. [3]
Rachel finds Christopher outside the infirmary. Rachel asks Christopher if he's afraid of getting close to Henry as that will make him fear losing him. She gives Christopher the advice of taking a chance on someone after he asks her what he should do. They promise to see each other tomorrow and seal it with a kiss. [3]
Henry is trained by Hickam on the oil business. [4] Lucas comes into the rig to see an upset Christopher digging a trench. Lucas suggests he takes some time off to spend time with Henry. Christopher refuses telling him unless he's willing to get into the mud with him to go away. [6] Christopher returns the watch to under Lee's car seat unknown to Lee who assumes he lost it under there. When he goes to see Rachel, he finds out she has already left. He is disappointed he missed her. [3]
Christopher and Henry discuss bad behavior starting with the fact Christopher's friend stole the car and then Christopher took it from his friend. He said he is beyond the bad behavior. Henry hopes Rachel does for Christopher as Abigail did for him. Christopher asks what happened to Abigail and he said she left to care for her mother and he's unsure if she will ever return. [7]
Henry and Bill got into an argument over Christopher after Bill started asking questions related to the stolen car. Nathan was also interested in finding out what happened, but reminded Bill that, despite his past with Henry, he should not hold Christopher guilty by association. Henry asked Christopher how he'd gotten to Hope Valley, and Christopher admitted to having borrowed the car his friend had stolen. Henry implored his son not to make the same mistakes he'd made, and related his experience with Abigail making him want to become a better man. [7]
Off screen, Rachel gets joined by Christopher. It is seen in pictures in a letter sent to Henry from Christopher. They seem happy. [8]
