Storyline[]
Season 12[]
Edie first met Lucas and Edwin in Capital City, where she requested a meeting with the governor to discuss her concerns about the national park proposal. She worried that it would jeopardize grazing land for her cattle, as she'd recently inherited her uncle's ranch. She suggested that they move the boundaries of the park in order to preserve the grazing land that she and other ranchers used for their cattle. Lucas told her he would take it under consideration.[1]
Edie ran into Lucas again on the train to Hope Valley. He wasn’t very happy to see her and felt she was trying to manipulate him. Lucas warned Edie that she was dealing with an old gambler and that they should stay away from each other. However, that didn’t last long, as they both had to work from a table at the cafe due to the lack of office space for Edie, and the fact that Lucas’s office was currently being used as hazelnut storage.[2]
Edie came across Lucas at the site of the proposed national park. She offered to show him the land her cattle used for pasture. Edie told Lucas she was engaged, and that her uncle Ernie had raised her after her parents’ death. She was focused on preserving his legacy now that he’d passed away too. Later, Edie saw Lucas in town, and admitted to him that she’d accidentally let a calf get loose, and the ranch hands were off for the weekend. He offered to help her out, but admitted that he knew nothing about ranching. Lucas and Edie rode out to find the calf, and when they spotted it, they ran after it, but it was too fast for them. Lucas noticed Edie had a lasso, so he decided to try lassoing the calf. He was successful in roping the calf, and they both pulled the rope to bring it closer. In the process, Edie’s ring fell off in the grass. Lucas noticed this and wanted to help find it. Edie admitted that she was in fact not currently engaged, but had been engaged before, and wore the ring to discourage any potential suitors. With the calf finally caught, Lucas picked it up and brought to Edie. This gesture seemed to have an effect on Edie, who appeared flustered for a moment as she watched Lucas carry the calf.[3]
