Helen Bouchard is a minor character in the eighth season of the Hallmark drama When Calls the Heart. She is portrayed by Teryl Rothery.

Storyline

Season 8

Helen was keeping to herself in her hotel room saying she wasn't ready to meet with Elizabeth yet despite going to Hope Valley for that reason. Elizabeth visits bringing a basket of muffins as peace offering. Helen offers to meet with Elizabeth for the next few days if she's really serious about going over her manuscript. Later on a walk with her son, Lucas, Helen confides in him that she thinks she is going to like Elizabeth to which he replies that she has that effect on people. Lucas confesses to his mother when questioned, that Elizabeth is the reason he stayed in Hope Valley.

Elizabeth works closely with Helen to complete her manuscript. During a walk they took together, Helen confides in Elizabeth that she is in Hope Valley because her husband left her. She had not told Lucas yet so asked Elizabeth to keep it a secret. This upset Elizabeth greatly as the secret caused her to distant herself from Lucas.

Elizabeth and Helen spend some time together. Helen admits that motherhood did not come easy to her. Elizabeth suggests that it's easy when surrounded by those you love. She then asks Helen why she is really in Hope Valley. Helen apologized for putting Elizabeth in the position with Lucas. Elizabeth said that was understandable as it takes a lot to vulnerable and she asked Helen if she was ever vulnerable with her husband. Helen said she was not so Elizabeth suggested she try again with her husband but Helen would probably have to be the one to reach out for him. Helen gave Little Jack a hug to practice using her vulnerability.

Helen says goodbye to Lucas and is going home hopefully to amend things with her husband, Lucas's father.
