History[]
Formerly known as Coal Valley, a mine accident outside town caused the death of 46 coal miners. The small, yet proud town is known for its friendly and unique community. After the mine closed, the main industry became timber, and later, oil was also discovered. After the oil wells dried up, hot springs appeared, which brought revenue to Hope Valley through tourism.
