Season 11[]
In 1921, Jeanette appeared in Hope Valley without any advance warning. Lucas wasn’t particularly happy to see her, and treated her with indifference. Jeanette told Lucas she was making a bid for the resort on behalf of a group of investors based in Cape Fullerton. Lucas allowed her to make her bid on the condition that he background check all of the investors. Jeanette promised Lucas she was on the level, but this proved not to be true, along with almost everything else she said. Jeanette told Lucas she still cared about him, but he wasn’t interested in rekindling their relationship. On her way out of town, Jeanette introduced herself to Elizabeth as Lucas’s ex-fiancé, although she was not. Elizabeth viewed the situation with mild amusement.[3]
After Montague withdrew his bid for the resort, Jeanette was the only person left willing to bid on the resort. Lucas had become desperate enough by this point to accept her bid, despite his serious misgivings. Jeanette returned to Hope Valley to discuss the matter with Lucas. Seeing her again began to bring back Lucas’s memory of the night he was shot, because, as he came to realize, she was there that night.
Jeanette falsely claimed that she had been coerced by a powerful gangster named Casimir Shaw to make a deal with Lucas that would allow Shaw to run rum through the territory and use the resort for money laundering activities. Jeanette told Lucas she had led Shaw to him on Election Night, and after Shaw pointed a gun at her, Lucas grabbed for it. Lucas and Shaw struggled for the gun and Lucas was accidentally shot. Jeanette warned Lucas that if he didn’t cooperate with Shaw, their lives would both be in danger. After this revelation, Lucas scrapped the entire resort project and escorted Jeanette out of town. He urged her to go into hiding.[4]
Jeanette soon returned to Hope Valley, claiming that she had tried to hide, but Shaw had found her, and was on his way there. She and her accomplice held Rosemary and Elizabeth hostage at the saloon, and it was revealed that Casimir Shaw was actually an alias for Jeanette herself. She took on the persona in order to secure money and power, using a man’s name in an effort to be taken seriously. She was behind everything: rum running, the plot against Lucas, and threatening Clayton Pike and Randall Rockwell. The Mounties arrested her and her accomplice, taking them back to Capital City.[5]
