Julie Thatcher is Elizabeth and Viola's younger sister. She is portrayed by Charlotte Hegele.

Julie Thatcher grew up in a wealthy family in Hamilton with her two sisters. Julie is feisty and wild, but can also be kind and gentle. She can be a drama queen sometimes, and she loves romance. Her romantic, idealistic spirit sometimes gets her into trouble. Julie can be flighty and has had difficulty finding her calling in life, but she loves her family and has a good heart.

In Hamilton, Julie had a short-lived relationship with Tom Thornton. The pair took her father’s car out for a joyride, and Julie accidentally crashed it, since she didn’t know how to drive. Tom tried to cover for her, but Jack saw the evidence and realized she had been driving, not Tom. Julie and Tom made plans to run away together, but they were stopped by Jack and Elizabeth. Tom left Hamilton for a new job opportunity, and kissed Julie goodbye.
Season 5[]
Julie surprised Elizabeth by coming to Hope Valley. She decided she wanted to be a teacher and asked to be Elizabeth’s apprentice. Eventually, Julie decided being a teacher was not for her. She attended Jack and Elizabeth’s wedding and danced with Tom Thornton.
Season 6[]
Julie visited Hope Valley for Baby Jack’s christening ceremony. She was named as his godmother. Julie also babysat Jack while Elizabeth attended the Founder’s Day Dance.
Season 10[]
Julie was studying art in London and had met some men there, but “none worth keeping.” Along with her aunt Agatha, Julie visited Elizabeth in Hope Valley. She told Elizabeth she was still unsure if art was her true calling, and her father wanted her to study the law. After some sisterly advice, Julie decided to continue studying art because she loved doing it.
