Nora Anderson is a main character in Season 2 of the drama series When Hope Calls. She is portrayed by Cindy Busby.
Background[]
Nora Anderson was the sister of Ethel Bennett, the late mother of Grace and Lillian. She was eleven years younger than Ethel, and had no idea that her sister had any children. Nora and Ethel's parents had disowned Ethel after her marriage due to their disapproval, and had cut off all contact with her. Nora lived in San Francisco and became a lawyer, but eventually wanted to find where Ethel was buried, so she hired a private investigator and discovered that Ethel had two grown daughters.

In 1920, Nora arrived in Brookfield, looking for Lillian Walsh. She explained that she was Lillian and Grace's aunt: their mother Ethel's younger sister by 11 years. Nora expressed regret for not knowing about Grace and Lillian, and felt guilty, as though she'd abandoned them. The truth was that since she was so much younger than Ethel, she hadn't been able to keep in contact with her because of their parents' disapproval of Ethel's marriage. Lillian and Nora bonded quickly after their meeting, and Lillian asked Nora to stay with them at the orphanage until it was time for them both to leave town. After spending some time at the orphanage, Nora decided to stay and help out. She wanted to make a difference in the children's lives. After Lillian left for London, Nora and Eleanor took care of the children.
Soon after arriving in Brookfield, Nora met Constable Michael Fletcher, who was temporarily posted to Brookfield in Constable Kinslow's absence. Nora and Michael traveled to Clearwater to pick up an orphan named Jenny from the juvenile detention facility. On the way, Michael saved Nora from a snake, but was bitten in the process. Nora wanted to learn more about Jenny's past in order to better help her, so she asked Michael to do a background check. It was revealed that Jenny's real name was Delores, and she was actually 18 years old, not 15. Delores had tried to survive on her own, but had a lot of difficulty. Nora saw that Delores was kindhearted and hardworking, and really seemed to care about the children, so she offered her a position helping out at the orphanage in exchange for room and board.
