Susannah Thom (née Coulter) was introduced in Season 7 of When Calls the Heart. She is portrayed by Shauna Johannesen.

Susannah arrives in Hope Valley with her daughter, Rachel. They are visiting from Bellingham. Rachel, her daughter is a romantic much to Susannah's dismay. She would like Rachel to be level headed and mature where as Rachel is thinking everything about Hope Valley is wild like the wild west.
During dinner with Elizabeth, Rosemary, Rachel and Lee, Rachel uses the slang word, "delish" and while Susannah reprimands her for not using the correct word, Lee and Rosemary think it's a great word to use. Rosemary boast about how wonderful things were on Broadway making Rachel wish to visit bigger cities instead of running her and her husband's furniture shop. [1]
After seeing the outfit Rachel picked out for herself, she insults her telling her to take it off. She refuses to listen saying that Rachel will be joining them in working in the furniture shop. After thinking it over, Susannah asks Lee and Rosemary if Rachel could stay with them. They agree and Rachel says while Susannah goes home. [2]
