Storyline[]
Season 12[]
Toddy Davis first came to Nathan's attention when Jed Campbell admitted to having won a gold coin from him in a poker game, not knowing it had been stolen. Since Toddy was a poker aficionado, Nathan decided to go undercover as "Danny DiMarco" in order to play poker with him and hopefully glean information about where the rest of the missing coins might be. Nathan was able to gain Toddy's trust during their first meeting, and Toddy gave him his business card. Toddy was interested in doing business with "Danny," who had portrayed himself as a rare coin dealer. Toddy and his wife, Trudy, took a trip to Amsterdam.[1]
When Toddy and Trudy returned to Union City, they ran into Nathan and Elizabeth, who were there to see a film. Nathan had to keep pretending to be Danny in order to avoid blowing his cover, and Elizabeth also had to play along as Diane DiMarco, the wife of Danny. Toddy and Trudy invited Nathan and Elizabeth to a party at their home, which they tried to decline, but Trudy was insistent. In order to keep up appearances in front of the Davises, Nathan and Elizabeth agreed to attend. During the party, Toddy and Trudy asked Nathan and Elizabeth questions about their relationship. Their answers didn't line up, which caused suspicion. After Nathan and Elizabeth sang a song together, Toddy seemed to believe their story.[2]
